RE: Invitation - World Press Freedom Day Forum May 2, 2010
The National Union of Journalists Malaysia will be organising a forum in conjunction with the World Press Freedom Day on Sunday May 2, 2010 which will be held at Sin Chew premises, 19 , Jalan Semangat, Petaling Jaya on between 10 am and 1pm.
The traditional print media is rivaled by the new media like news portals and social media to reach readers.
Newspapers have to obtain or renew their annual licence to remain in business as required under the Printing Presses and Publication Act 1984. (PPPA)
In view of this , the NUJ is organizing a forum titled “Is it necessary to regulate the print media in Malaysia?
At least four panel members to speak on the subject and each one will be given 15 minutes to express his/her opinion.
Panel of Speakers are:-
1) Datuk Zainul Arifin Mohammed Isa - Group Managing Editor NSTP Berhad
2) En. Zulkifli Sulong - Ketua Pengarang, Harakah Daily.
3) Zainon Ahmad, Political Editor of The Sun.
4) Prof. Datuk Dr. Shad Saleem Faruqi - Emeritus Professor of Law UiTM
It will be followed by Question and Answer Session.
